Jason Bowen is originally
from Fayetteville, Georgia just south of Atlanta. He started learning
piano and drums by ear at the age of five. Influenced heavily by soul,
r&b and Gospel music, he grew up emulating and performing with his
three talented older brothers. They later formed the Gospel group
"The Bowen Brothers" when Jason was twelve, and still perform concerts
to this day. The Bowen Brothers recorded three albums and performed
with or opened for Andrae Crouch, Deniece Williams, Sawyer Brown,
Michael W. Smith, Bill Anderson, and The Gatlin Brothers to name a
few.
In 1992 Jason had
his first big break co-producing a remix of the R&B group Silk's number
one single "Freak Me", which earned it's own separate number one video
on BET. In 1995 he joined Barry Manilow's "The Hits" world tour singing
background, dancing, and playing keyboards. After the tour ended,
Jason was back home in late 1996 playing clubs and pursuing songwriting,
fueled by Manilow's positive remarks about his songs, voice, and production.
In 2000 Jason signed with Mac McKissack's Ground Breaking Music, Inc.,
and formed his own production company, Jabo Productions, Inc. He recently
penned a top twenty single for Australian pop artist Deni Hines, from
her forthcoming album. With a passion for all genres of popular music
he is now writing, producing and performing with many of the top names
in r&b, pop, rock, and country
